About The Artist

I travel to France to paint  on an annual basis and have exhibited in both Avignon and La Rochelle so I have  a French theme to many of my paintings.

A large part of my childhood was spent in the countryside and close to the sea in Co. Wexford so landscape and seascape have been an abiding feature of my work. Living in Arklow,  the harbour, boats and the beautiful afforested hinterland of Avoca and Co. Wicklow have been a constant source of inspiration.

In my student days at College in the 60's, Ruskin Spear,( student of Sir Walter Sickert)  the late great Fred Bushe OBE and founder of the Scottish Sculpture Workshop taught me how to see, and consequently to understand form, shape, line and the power of abstraction, consequently I have had an association with abstract art throughout most of my working life.

A degree in Art History at The University of London further instilled a love and motivation for Art that sustains me to the present.

I am a member of The Watercolour Society of Ireland, an all Ireland award winner, a professionally trained Painter, Sculptor, Art historian and Art, English and Drama Teacher of many years experience. I have had many prestigious commissions over the years and my work is in a number of private and public collections in Ireland and abroad. I have exhibited in numerous Dublin group exhibitions and various other national projects. I have had a number of solo exhibitions my last one was in Glastonbury in ’09.

I spent many years teaching Art in England and Ireland . For the last number of years I paint full time in my studio at Oakhenge, situated between Avoca and Arklow on the Beech Road in Co. Wicklow.
